It’s  been a largely uneventful day aside from all the shenanigans that Manny our cat has been up to.

He’s been very rambunctious this morning to put it mildly.

I’ve been awfully tired today but my acid reflux is in over drive making doing anything quite difficult. I saw my best friend for only a few minutes this morning before he fell asleep.

Here is the important part: CHICAGO by Brian Doyle so far is simply amazing. I guess the only way to describe it is by calling it ‘elegant’. There is a very simplistic beauty to it that I am finding to be very enjoyable. This book was an impulse buy because I loved the composition of the cover and the few reviews that I read of it made it sound favorable.

Perhaps due to it’s contrast with SWEETBITTER is why I’ve been so drawn to it. I’m only a few chapters in, however CHICAGO employs the type of writing style that I enjoy so much; subtle humor and a disobedience to what is typically considered “proper” sentence structure.

I am enjoying it thus far.

But for now I must head to bed, exhaustion is creeping back through my body at an alarming rate. I was having doubts as to whether I’d be able to even write an update today.

Hoping for a better day tomorrow.
